KSC Charitable Foundation

The KSC Charitable Foundation is a project of the Order of the Knights Of The Southern Cross established in 1996. Although the Charitable Foundation was established at about the same time as the KSC Education Foundation the Charitable Foundation is less well known, operating in a completely different area of need and on a considerably smaller scale.

The object of the KSC Charitable Foundation is the relief of poverty and distress by the provision of financial and other assistance to families and to persons in financial need in each of the Catholic Dioceses in Western Australia.

The Foundation is administered by a board of six Trustees all of whom are Knights.

Over the years the Foundation has been able to assist a wide range of individual beneficiaries including :

  • payment of Catholic school fees for a number of families.
  • the purchase of work equipment for young apprentices.
  • purchase of cleaning supplies and electrical equipment for individuals in home care.
  • meeting the cost of mini skip bins to support a Branch cleaning a derelect house.

The Foundation has also made regular contributions to St Vincent de Paul Appeals and the Personal Advocacy Centre.

The Foundation can respond quickly to provide financial assistance for needs that cannot be met by other agencies.

Recently, the Trustees have been working closely with HACC coordinators and care recipients through Southern Cross Care.

The Foundation has a modest capital base which is presently sufficient to provide assistance on a small scale to a limited number of applicants. The Trustees are seeking to build the Foundations capital base to provide a stable platform for future projects on a larger scale.

Tax deductible donations by cheque should be made payable to the KSC Charitable Foundation and  forwarded to the State Office or Visa/Mastercard by phoning the State Office.
